Meeting at Newport Yacht Club, Newport, RI
Called to order at 6:50pm
Attendees: Will Museler, Rating chairman; Roy Guay, treasurer; Bob Horton, Secretary; Kathy Rotsky, PHRF-NB administrator; Moose McClintock, board member; Paul Grimes, board member; Paul Cronin, board member; Don Kern, board member; Randy Shore, Board member
- Motion to approve the minutes from the previous meeting of July 22, 2019 which had been distributed via email were seconded and approved.
RATINGS
Certificate 14356 – Frolic, Alfrede Luders design, Luders Navy 44 model, manufactured in 1966 by Uniflite, Bill Doyle owner. The application indicates that no modifications have been made to the boat. Both Randy Shore and Will Museler have sailed on this boat. Applicant is submitting rating with 110% headsail even though this boat is designed to carry a large headsail. After review and discussion the board members present agreed on a provisional base rating of 141 with applicable adjustments to be applied.
Certificate 14359 – Araminta, design of L. Francis Herreshoff, manufactured in 1954, Thomas Farrell owner. The application indicates that no modifications have been made to the boat. Other ratings that were found were Eastern Li 177, NE 201, Northern Cal 186, Lake Erie 189. After review and discussion the board members present agreed on a provisional base rating of 189 with applicable adjustments to be applied.
Certificate 14315 – Echo, Jeppesen, traditional Maine sloop design, Frienship Sloop model, manufactured 1965 by Oisten Lee Nielsen, George Hagerty owner, this is a gaff cutter, 5200 lbs. displacement on a 19 foot waterline. After review and discussion the board members present agreed on a provisional base rating of 291 with applicable adjustments to be applied.
Certificate 13723 – C’est Bon, Berret Racoupeau design, Benateau Sense 50 SD model, manufactured 2011, by Beneteau, Carl Metz owner. This is a shoal draft boat drawing 6.92 with a displacement of 33,710 lbs. on a 46.08 waterline. Previously rated in 2018 with a base of 60 sailing 76 at spinnaker and 96 at non-spinnaker. There have been additional adjustments reported by the owner. The boat has an EZ rating under Orc at .900. After review and discussion the board members present agreed to leave the base at 60 and apply the applicable adjustments
OLD BUSINESS
Will has provided additional documentation on the possible adjustments for symmetrical and asymmetrical spinnakers for review and discussion
NEW BUSINESS
Updates for review of changes for the 2020 PHRF-NB Regulations have been distributed for comment.
Location for September meeting was agreed to be the Quantum loft in Newport. The date for the meeting is September 23, 2019 6:30pm
